Artists are often persuaded to avoid speaking out on political conflicts. If you take a "side," you can potentially alienate some of your fanbase, and thus miss out on money and opportunities. That's just one of the many struggles of the entertainment industry. You have to try and appeal to 'everybody.' But for me, I know what I stand for and where I come from. I want to use my platform to raise money to donate to a cause I believe in. And it's a cause a lot of my fanbase believes in as well. A more equitable and achievable process to becoming a U.S. citizen.
